I was looking through the classifieds of the paper yesterday, and I found myself looking through the animals section, having failed to find anything I could apply for in the job section.
There was a small add that said Give away: kittens, toilette trained, please phone etc etc etc...
Now, I know straight up that my parents aren't going to go for a cat, or kittens. I would be welcome to do something about getting a beehive or alpacas, but my parents aren't big on the regular, stereotypical, domesticated fuzzies like dogs and cats.
but I still really like the idea of having a feline to call my own... er, to call me their pet human.
I know lots of you, my wonderful f-list, have experience with owning pets - I have even seen pictures of cats behaving in an amusing fashion - and I figure I ought to know all the facts before actually becoming the crazy cat lady. the closest I've ever come to owning a pet is some guppies in my sister's fish tank. they died by the way. all of the fish died except for Fred, and then he died when we tried to poison the snails in the tank.
So basically I have no experience of pets except other peoples, and usually then it's only been very casual petting, maybe a gentle tease, mostly mutual ignoring - both the cat and myself leaving the other completely alone for most of the time.
So... furry pets...?

Have you ever walked through the shopping centre, seen something of no particular significance to you but that you think some specific person would like if they saw it, and realised "OH NO! I forgot to get them a birthday present/Christmas present/gift for some other event!" and, upon looking in your wallet/purse discovered little more than small change, and know that it's a week until you're going to get any money and then gone into a frenzy?
Cause I just realised yesterday, shortly after posting my last over-seas Christmas parcel, that I'd forgotten about a good friend who is a neighbour of mine, and I have no idea how I forgot her. Thankfully, there is still plenty of time until Christmas, but I like to be on top of things like this, not suddenly going "OH NO!" - but the problem is that the list of people who I know, am friends with, and want to give a good gift to gets longer aaaaallllllllllllllllllll the time, and being restrained is important. Still, I really shouldn't have forgotten this person.
I have a remedy, and several fall-back plans in place (for in case I forget other people who aren't as dear to me, but still should get something) but I'm going to have to wait a week or two before I have the money to get her present.

wow, second post in one evening... wow.
For once, I don't care if it's a real word or not, it felt like the right thing to say when I had completed this nights worth of cleaning stuff out of my room.
I'm not going to say junk, even if a lot of it did end up in the bin. There were photos that I took when I was just getting the hang of my very first camera - film - and wow some of them were shockingly bad. There were sketches that I knew were shocking then and was not ashamed to tear out of the sketch books now. There were a whole lot of clippings that I'd clipped out but never put into anything, and could not see the point of now doing so. There was a very nice little green velvet box, that I found at the junk shop, around about ten years ago. There were a whole lot of papers that no longer needed to be kept because they had passed their dates of usefulness.
There is still stuff for me to get rid of, but I intend to do so in a vaguely more profitable way than just tossing them - that is to say, I'll find someone to sell the stuff, or something, and one book that I'm going to hang onto so that I can give it to Horace when he/she is old enough to need to be entertained quietly.
I also found stuff I had believed lost, which is always good. One of the things I found was more floor space. I tidied up the mess that happens when I come home and just kick my shoes in the direction of the cupboard and then fling my bike jacket over them. I organised the bags hanging in my cupboard. I sorted my shirts, which is good, coz I have a bunch of black T-shirts with different pictures on the front and I was getting really sick of having to pull them all out to find the one that I was looking for. I re-organised my printed-out fanfiction a little bit, so now it's going to be even easier to find something to read before bed (cross-over fics now have their own folder, though I could still really benefit from another 10 or so... after Christmas).
I really reccommend going through all the stuff that's piled up in one room of the house and just asking yourself "What the heck is this doing still here?!" make sure you have a bin on hand.
I found art supplies I never used, or intended to use, which I can give to a friend who I know will get use out of them. I found an art piece I did back in 11th grade, which I love, as well as a bunch of other art pieces from approximately the same time, which I don't. I found the lid of my glory box again! I don't have a desk in my bedroom, but I do take advantage of any horizontal surface available to me to just shove stuff until I have time to deal with it properly.
This effort of de-stuffifying was brought to me by the desire to have something to do while I wait for my sister and her husband to come back from wherever they've been all day. I still haven't seen Horace-the-parasite-baby-bump in person yet! I left for class before they arrived this morning, and they haven't been home since I got back.

and in this instance, postage means actual postal system, not just sticking an entry up here.
I went to the post office on my way to class this morning, so that I could send off parcels to America so beautiful people could have presents from me. This turned out to be an ever-so-slighlty more expensive venture than I had anticipated, so I have one more parcel sitting waiting for me to get a bit more cash so that I can send it off. So, probably Monday or Tuesday at the latest will the last lonely international parcel be posted.
My options were: air mail, which is more expensive but will get there by Christmas, or ship mail, which is cheaper but won't get there by Christmas. Considering the contents of the boxes, the sooner it gets where its going, the better, so I took the pricier option.

Appropo of nothing at all, I just noticed that I have now got over 1000 stories in my "favorites" list on fanfiction.net
That I fave about half the stories I read, if even that - though I admit I'm seeing a lot of much better fanfiction now than I used to, still, some of it isn't to my taste.
Yeah... over a thousand stories have been favourited by me on fanfiction.net ... sometimes I scare myself... this is even more of a stopping moment than when I had to count how many hats I had so we could get enough hooks, and I discovered I had over 40. (the hats have to share hooks by the way, with only a few very notable exceptions.)
... over a thousand storiess... struth.

Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

ding dong merrily on high? no, not that one...
ding dong the witch is dead? well, that's getting closer.
ding dong the ROOSTER'S dead. That's the one.
Really, between psychology spring school, wonderful people suffering/dieing, thereby causing the sadness of others, and the approaching season of CHRISTMAS... I'm just quietly very happy inside that the neighbour's rooster has finally stopped crowing and croaked instead.

can someone explain to me how anybody can get a nosebleed from (let me consider the things anime characters have been known to nosebleed from... okay...) porn, allusion to porn, attractive nude person, attractive fully dressed person, and the amount of blood that comes out when they get hit in the nose. I know that taking a fist to the nose can result in blood, so for that one I'm only questioning the amount.
this has actually been bugging me for a while, and it just came up to the forefront of my questionting mind again because I just got a nosebleed. No, I was not reading any of the million or so smut-fics available to me. Mine, random as it was, and as few and far between as I get them, was, I am fairly sure, heat-triggered. My brother also gets random nosebleeds. He got one while we were leaving the food court of a shopping complex in town one day. I once woke up from a dream about Scooby Doo running away from cookie dough to find I had a blood nose, another time I was helping set up before working Front Of House at my school's theatre (that's usher, candy bar, coffee etc) and shortly after having come back downstairs from checking that the bathrooms had toilet paper, I got a blood nose. Actually, I think that was the same day I had those two blood noses, it was a few years ago now.
So, have you ever met anybody who got a blood nose from something of the erotic persuasion? Cause I never have, and my nosebleeds are never caused by smut. In this case, I am merely thankful that my nosebleed barely lasted five minutes. I have known them to last for an hour or more. Yes, completely random nosebleeds can last for a while.

Yeah, okay, in the great scheme of things, it's not a big deal. In the minor scheme of things it really bugs me. This is one of those little things that is going to be all "straw that broke the camel's back" things...
Fanfiction.net isn't letting me add any more stories to my favourites list, isn't letting me view my favourites list, isn't letting me review - even though I'm logged in - and the little drop-down bits, you know, so you don't have to go the long way around to get to where you're going, yeah, they aren't dropping down.
I don't know if it's just me and all the computers in my house, or if Fanfiction.net is being annoying at everybody right now.
That's it. I think maybe I should take some time out to press Hitsugaya's hakama. I'm walking in the local Christmas pageant as Toushiro, so having my hakama ironed would probably be a good idea.
EDIT ON THE 8TH OF NOVEMBER: Fanfiction.net seems fixed now. so glad.

Today I was disturbed from my still nothingness by my neighbour's use of our doorbell.
He explained that he had been trying to catch their rooster, but it had made it's escape into our backyard, and would I please help to catch it?
I agreed of course, I really don't want that bothersome bird anywhere near our hens.
Anyway, got it nearly cornered under the front patio after a while, then we got this plastice net thing and held it over most of the opening, trying to drive it.
Unfortunately, it got away, but back into its proper backyard.
So, why am I so happy? The reason we were trying to catch the rooster was... TO CHOP OF ITS HEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they day is drawing nigh when the cock-a-doodle shall be removed, along with the throat that summoned it! WAHOOOO!!!!!!!!
Excuse me while I dance for joy.

I challenge all the creative people out there! I have random ideas and I'm not afraid to throw them at you like water bombs filled with paint.
It can be summed up very simply: the Beach Boys. listen to their music while you write a fic, use one of their songs as the soundtrack for an amv, interpret their music with one of your favourite characters (who would hate the Beach Boys) and do arts of it.
In other news, photos of the weekend are up on facebook, and some on dA in an account called talisenmada - who is an awesome person to know.
The rooster next door is on the way out, somehow. it's mode of leaving is yet to be desided, but it isn't staying.
and I was recently reminded that I really liked watching Digimon when it was on TV, so now I'm (VERY) slowly downloading episodes from the internets while simultaneously kinda-studying for my exams. University.
... Beach Boys, Grease, music from that era. That is your plotbunny-muse challenge from me. Not expecting much though.
Oh, and one more thing, I just recently got into the Bleach fanfiction luv in some proper way the other night. Ukitake/Hitsugaya makes me happy. NO familial stuff, and even if he is UKEtake, I still say HitsuGAYa is the uke.

there will be photos. somewhere. I'll let you know when they go up.
that's all.
I don't know for sure, but I think this will be fun.
